The artwork is entitled: “Judas Iscariot”. Creator: Eko Budhi Purwanto.
Among Christians, the name Judas Iscariot is considered a traitor for having handed over Jesus Christ to the chief priests for 30 pieces of silver. Judas threw the silver he had received into the temple, then went to commit suicide by hanging himself, and then the priests bought a piece of land, called the potter’s land, as a burial place for foreigners.
A betrayal is a form of breaking, destroying, or violating a contract of presumption, agreement, cooperation, trust, or belief, which creates moral and psychological conflicts in relationships between individuals, between organizations, or between individuals and organizations. Often betrayal can take the form of an act to support an enemy or rival group, or it can also take the form of a complete termination of cooperation by ignoring the rules or norms that were previously decided or mutually agreed upon. A person who betrays another person is called a traitor.
This painting is dominated by red in almost all the blocks presented, to depict ambition, competitiveness, and anger. In many ways, the dark red color indicates a very strong power of passion, which sometimes overwhelms tender feelings and destroys feelings of sympathy for others.
