Affandi

Affandi. Auratic painting by Eko Budhi Purwanto

Artwork entitled: “Affandi”. Creator: Eko Budhi Purwanto.
This auratic artwork is painted in a digital ink block technique, in a semi-impressionist style. The incompleteness of the image does not affect his artistic value, in fact it gives a strong tendency to describe Affandi’s talent as a maestro in the field of painting.
Affandi, a commercial term for Affandi Koesoema, is the most productive Indonesian painter maestro in the world and has more than 2000 works of art. Afandi has often held exhibitions in various countries such as India, England, Europe, and the United States. Affandi was born in Cirebon in 1907, the son of R. Koesoema, a supervisor measuring at a sugar factory in Ciledug, Cirebon. His artistic talent for painting is very thick, beating other disciplines in his life. Painting Before starting to paint, Affandi had been a teacher and had also worked as a ticket ripper and an image maker for cinema billboards in one of the cinema buildings in Bandung. This work did not last long because Affandi was more interested in the field of painting. Indeed, it has made his name famous and equal to other figures or leaders in other fields.
One time, he received a scholarship to study painting in Santiniketan, India, an academy founded by Rabindranath Tagore. When he arrived in India, he was rejected on the grounds that he was deemed no longer in need of painting education. In the end, the scholarship fees he received were used to hold exhibitions around the country of India.
